Host an Intern

Welcome, coach, and support public high school students by hosting an intern in your workplace this summer.

Expanding options and opportunity for our youth and our city takes all of us, working together. Each summer, YouthForce NOLA coordinates local internships for 200+ rising high school seniors to help prepare them for life after graduation.

YouthForce NOLA provides extensive soft skills and workplace readiness training for all interns before they show up for the first day at your office. We then match students with partner businesses and pay interns a tax-free stipend for completing the program.

Supervisor Commitment

Supervisors are some of the most important people in the summer internship. They welcome young people into their workplace, giving these high school students one of their first experiences at work. Supervisors also provide mentorship, feedback, and coaching during the program. And if you need help making a plan for your intern, giving them feedback during the internship, or problem-solving, YouthForce NOLA has a team of experts ready with tools and resources to set you up for success.

Here are the details:

  • In 2025, interns will be in your workplace from June 23 - July 25.

  • One staff member will act as the primary intern supervisor, supporting a rising 12th grade student by monitoring their work and providing regular check-ins for five weeks. An additional staff member is required to sign on as a secondary or backup supervisor in case the primary supervisor is out sick, on vacation, or unavailable to the intern.

  • Supervisors will see interns about 22 hours of work a week during regular business hours, creating projects and providing coaching to one or more interns.

  • Before the internship, supervisors will spend four to six hours preparing for their intern, all under the guidance of a YouthForce NOLA staff member.

YouthForce NOLA provides internship supervisors with all of the resources and training needed for you and your intern to have a great work-based learning experience. Anyone can be an Intern Supervisor, but you are an especially great fit if:

  • You are open to training and learning about managing early-career staff members
